5-Week Southeast Asia Solo Trip Reflections Part 1

First Stop: Singapore

Wednesday, April 2, 2025

A few months ago, I had a strong urge to take a leap on a trip to Southeast Asia with Singapore being my first stop. I've been in my down season for the past three years for multiple reasons, which is normal and having the chance to learn from hardships is something that I don't take for granted, but I knew deep down that I needed to be alone and out of my comfort zone for a while.

At the start of this year, I felt like it got to stalemate where I wasn't sure how I wanted to move forward, so when I found a good RT deal to Singapore, I dived head on to work out the logistics so that I could go on my first "official" solo trip for a month. The plan went through because I have a handful of supporters, especially my husband, who helped me make what I felt was blind faith turned into reality.

There were ups and downs, logistical issues (e.g. stranded in SF because of layover mixups during departure), doubts (why did I do something so crazy and last minute?!), and excitement all at the same time, and it was exactly how I envisioned this trip would turn out to be.

On the surface, it was like I entered identity crisis mode but whatever the reason that drove me to go on this trip was, I came back reborn with the senses that I had as a kid–how vibrant and beautiful everything around me is because I am here to share this experience with everyone on this planet.

I cannot wait to work on the video recaps for my channel to share more than what I can write on a caption, which I find daunting, but I think I'm finally up for the challenge.
